A very rare event seen at CERN

Why it matters

CERN has a big machine in Switzerland. It crashes tiny particles together.

  • Scientists saw a very rare event. They waited 42 years for it. A particle (a very small piece) broke into two smaller ones.
  • Only 1 in 10 billion of these particles breaks this way (total count). They found about 12 cases in 10 years of data (total count).
  • This is a breakthrough (a big new success). It can lead to finding new particles. It is not a full discovery yet. More proof is needed.

Asteroid rock holds the building blocks of life

Why it matters

Japan's Hayabusa2 craft brought rock pieces from asteroid Ryugu to Earth in 2020. An asteroid is a big rock that moves in space.

  • Scientists studied very clean rock samples (small pieces) from the asteroid Ryugu.
  • They found all five nucleobases (the building blocks of DNA). DNA is the code that makes every living thing.
  • This supports the idea that life's pieces came from space long ago.

Most business buyers decide before they call a seller

Why it matters

6sense studies how companies buy from other companies.

  • The report studied 4,611 business buyers (total count). The seller a buyer liked before first contact won 82% of the deals.
  • Buyers spend 60% of a 10.3-month buying cycle just choosing, before they call anyone. A cycle is a period of time.
  • 81% of buyers used AI tools like ChatGPT somewhere in the process. Only 26% used AI to find sellers for the first time.
